cancer at some point in your life and the big news this week is that whether a cancer

victim responds to certain treatments or not might be dictated by the

bacteria they carry in their intestines. That's according to a new study from

researchers at the University of Texas.

Jennifer Wargo and D.Pag Gopalachrishnan looked at more than 100 patients with the

skin cancer melanoma. Those that responded best to a therapy designed to make the immune system attack tumors

had a very different spectrum of gut microbes compared with patients who responded less well,
