Summary

Right now, America is more divided than ever - with Philadelphia's Sheriff Rochelle Bilal warning ICE agents, “you don't want this smoke” and calling them 'fake law enforcement’. Democrats are engaged in a borderline insurrection against the Federal government over ICE. Today, we'll examine left-wing calls for direct obstruction against ICE, the Insurrection Act as a federal response tool, maps of past unrest and red/blue county divides, historical examples of state resistance, conditions that could catalyze broader collaboration or tipping points, and answer key questions.

America seems to be more divided than ever, and that's become a cliche.

0:04.0

I mean, let's face it.

0:05.0

Everyone has been saying this for a while now, but here's how you know it might actually be true at this point,

0:11.0

and that is because certain localities and certain states seem like they are really gearing up to fight this time,

0:17.0

and I mean fighting directly against the federal government.

0:20.0

We have several clips

0:22.0

that we're going to show you today of prominent members of the Democratic Party, not people in their

0:26.2

mother's basement, talking about resisting or pushing back against ICE. Now, they're trying to be

0:31.3

careful in their language, which is to say that they're kind of hinting an insurrection,

0:35.7

well, always put it in some sort of caveat

0:38.0

that would prevent anybody from accusing them of the thing they seem to be hinting at. But

0:42.9

it's there and it's obvious. So we're going to look at that. We're going to look at things like

0:47.1

the Insurrection Act. At what point does Donald Trump have constitutional authority to potentially

0:52.7

organize the military in order to go in and put

0:55.1

down insurrections. We're also going to ask this very, very important question, and that is,

1:00.1

have Americans just had enough of each other? Is there any pathway to us peacefully saying,

1:07.5

we don't want to do this anymore? Well, there's three options that we're going to look at for what would happen if

1:14.8

Americans decided that they're just kind of done and they're ready to fight one another

1:19.9

or ready to separate peacefully.

1:22.2

And we will discuss what those three options look like and some of the practical

1:25.7

questions that need to be asked.

1:27.6

All of that coming up on this episode of making the argument. I'm your host, Nick Freitas. I want to give a special think out to Mando. That's right, ladies and gentlemen. If you are a, look, I'm going to say right now, especially if you're a dude, right? If you're a guy and you're married, I always like to make this joke that if I want to, if I want to romance my wife, I might get
