So are we going to allow the Republican Party to carve racism back into American law.

This is essentially the question I'm asking with my op-ed

that I posted today at heartman report.com.

That's the headline in fact.

And the news has been all over

Nicky Haley's inability to say slavery until she got called out on it but you know

few are pointing to this larger issue in fact very few and that is the institutionalization

of racism in American law that has happened now in 16 Republican controlled states,

as well as in hundreds of smaller towns and school districts.

From Florida, Texas to little towns like Temecula, California, legislatures and school boards have banned what they call

critical race theory, CRT.

But critical race theory is a complex system for analyzing the impact of institutional racism and

how individual racism is fed by and feeds into institutional racism and the impact that has

over time on people and communities. That is not something that is

studied in high school, junior high school, elementary school,

any public school in America.

It is something critical race theory is exclusively offered as a class in college law school, in graduate school, in law school.

So what's the deal?

States are banning the teaching of this in public schools

when it was never being taught in public schools. Well they know that. These
