When Russia began its war in Ukraine, leaders in the West were quick to say they would bring

Moscow to its knees. The most aggressive and targeted sanctions in the history of the world

were deployed to inflict pain on Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Sure enough, Russia's economy suffered in all kinds of ways, but not enough to actually stop the war.

A new forecast by the IMF predicts that Russia's economy will actually grow by 0.3% in

2023. That's right, grow, not contract. And that's while an economy

like the United Kingdoms is expected to shrink. One can interpret that data in a variety of ways.
