The host of Majority 54, Jason Kander, talks to Richard Trumpka, the president of the AFL

CIO.

It's the largest federation of unions in the United States.

We've talked a lot about the importance of unions and what we need to do to organize,

and so there's a really necessary and interesting conversation.

They recorded this live at an event in Kansas City and talked about the importance of unions,

challenges that unions are facing now, and how collective action has increased over

the past couple of years to help working people.

It's a great and important conversation, so take a listen.

The folks in this room, I mean, we're in a union.

All the folks in this room know the answer to this question I'm going to ask.

But we're recording this, and it's going to be listened to people all over the country

during their commutes and that sort of thing.

And earlier, you and I were talking about how a large part of the audience for this show

is millennials, and a lot of them, they support unions, but they don't completely, I think,

in a lot of cases understand the role of unions, because maybe they haven't had direct interactions

with them.
