I am a curator of all things that shake or shudder, that rumble or royal, everything from Maracas, to bubbleheads, to novelty salt and pepper shakers, to this plate of jello.

It's all so exciting, and I keep all of my items here in Wobbly Wanda's Warehouse of Wonder.

However, there is one knocking novelty I've never been able to fit in my warehouse.

Earthquakes! Can you even imagine what Wobbly Wanda's Warehouse of Wonder would sound like in an earthquake?

Earthquakes are the biggest shakes in the world.

I thought they must even be the biggest tremors in the universe until my good friend London asked,

are there earthquakes on other planets?

There certainly are, yes.

Earthquakes are caused by something called tectonic plates, which you can think of like huge pieces of rock, which all the countries and oceans rest on, and they're deep inside the Earth.

Sometimes those plates rubbed together,

which causes enormous vibrations,

and that's what we feel as earthquakes.

We call this seismic activity.

and I work for an organisation called The Average Scientist.

We are a STEM resource organisation and we

specialise in research and outreach, meaning that we both do science and tell people about it.

On other planets, different things can cause seismic activity and scientists are studying that all the time.
