And this episode was a long time coming, probably about 25 plus years because that's how long I have

known today's guest, L.A. Times columnist and newspaper veteran Dylan Hernandez, a close friend,

but also a man with a huge impact in the L.A. sports journalism world. In fact, recently called the LA

Dodgers cowardly for their mute approach to the ice raids here in Los Angeles. So we're going to

get into that, but we're also going to get into Dylan's very fascinating background and

just L.A. sports in general. So Dylan, first and foremost, thank you for being here. Thanks for

finally coming on the show. No, thanks for having me. You know, I know, right, when I moved back to L.A.,

when was that, 07? Yeah. I think we started off doing lunch every six months to kind of catch up, and then it became once a year. And now we've gone a couple years, I think, without doing that.

So now we're here.

But our kids played soccer.

There we go.

But this past season, we kind of reconnect.

We always kept in touch, though.

We did.

Right?

We text at the very least.

But this past season, his son played soccer with my son, or should I say mine played with his

because his is very talented. My kid's very talented, but he's also somewhat timid on the soccer

field. He's very athletic, but, uh, but that was engineered, you know, because my, my brother

called me and he's like, hey, like, do you want to just hang out with Evan? Let me just pick his kid. Perfect.
