I think what predominies to realize is that the reason why cycling is going faster and faster,

yes, the equipment has improved. Yes, the roads have improved. There's not much you can do about that,

but the main reason is that the athletes have gotten better and better. Nowadays, you can see

that races are going fast from the start to the finish.

You know, if I think back, not even in my days, but even in Lances and Georgia's period,

the races didn't go full gas all the time.

There was usually, you know, a warm-up, there was a breakaway that went and then the peloton slowed down.

And they were using basically the easy parts of the course to recover.

Downhills, they didn't go full gas.

They go full gas everywhere now.

So what can you do to stop that?

Nothing.
