Summary

Caleb Keith, Adam Francisco, and Bruce Hilman address the opinion that Roman Catholics are not Christians. The fellows conclude that Roman Catholics are not by necessity excluded from saving faith and trust in Jesus Christ. This leads to a conversation about how specific confessions and denominations are still necessary, even if affiliation with the correct group is not the sole indicator of saving faith.

kind of targeted at the South, I think, at least the way I see this, because it depends on

1:08.8

the type of denomination where you hear this objection, but today's

1:12.1

episode topic is, are Roman Catholics Christians? Now, I've been hearing this question come up a lot.

1:20.0

It comes up on Twitter relatively frequently. I heard somebody bring this up in person. And I know two people who called themselves

1:30.7

converts to Christianity who grew up Roman Catholic. Uh, so it's a very, um, interesting one. I will

1:39.8

say I usually hear this. The reason I said the South is I usually hear this from people who are

1:46.4

more Baptist in their leanings than I do from say the more historical Protestant churches. I don't

1:55.8

hear this from lifelong Lutherans frequently and things like that.
