So, but today we are asking in our series on a Lutheran identity crisis,

are Lutherans, Protestants? Now, this one comes around on the internet, like every 18 months,

to start a fury of arguments between Lutherans and other Protestants, usually with some small

group, kind of strained group, I'm sorry for those who listen and are part of this group,

but who get really mad at being called Protestant. And so here's my question to you and we will go around guys.

Are Lutherans Protestants?

So we're going to, I'm going to give Adam first crack at this one today.

Well, just are we Protestants?

Because I want to make that weird little group even angrier, yes.

If you're like evangelicals, the original Protestants.

That's right, baby.

By, I mean, was it, we did a little bit of talking before we hit record.

Now it's escaped me because I have so much coffee.

My brain is like going 100 miles a second.

But I'm just going to say by 1530.

I think it was 1529, 1528, especially the princes, the political authorities that are meeting with imperial authorities to negotiate, you know, if you will, liberties for for Lutherans.

They were referred to as the protesting princes, from which we get the term Protestant.

Was it spire, Scott, the diet of spire?
