It's never happened before, excluding the International Champions Cup and the Club World Cup and the Copa, sort of.

But now, La Liga is involved, and that changes everything, Graham Ruffman.

Hello, Taylor Rockwell. Yeah, do you have a deal with relevant sports? Feels like everyone does. I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't at this point. So I got to pull some strings to make some things happen to be able to record the podcast in, I don't know, Minnesota or Kansas City. I think that's how it works. Well, I've got to deal with irrelevant sports. I've been irrelevant for most of my life.

But, Graham, we are talking about domestic league games being played in a non-domestic setting, a topic that

has come up at various points in soccer history.

We'll go through a few of those.

But for the purposes of the topic of today, why are we discussing this?

Yeah, so as you say, Taylor, this story surfaces every so often.

But it is in the news specifically as we're recording in August 2025 because the Spanish Federation,

the RFEF, has approved plans for a La Liga match between Villareal and Barcelona to be played in Miami.

So that match was originally slated to be played at the ceramica.

I still call it the Madrigal.

On December 21st, now the plan is to play it.

A familiar Madrigal.

Yeah.

Now the, well, hopefully it's not been played at the Madrigal.
