It's July 31st, 2005 in Nunavut, Northern Canada, 150 miles south of the Arctic Circle.

It's a bright clear evening. The light from the summer sun still high in the sky dances on the surface of Princess Mary Lake. This vast body of water is surrounded in every

direction by mile upon mile of exposed rock and wind-swept scrub, punctuated by the occasional pocket of slanted pines, the last hangars on.
