Summary

After experiencing dysfunction and hurt, Tasha Layton left church and set out on a search for truth. It was a long journey that led her back to Jesus.  As a gifted worship leader, God opened doors in music but not what Tasha had imagined.  She found herself on American Idol and touring the world as a backup singer for Katy Perry, before finding her home writing worship songs and books to help others experience the freedom she's found in Jesus.

Hey, this is Meredith. I hope you're enjoying these last lazy days of summer before the school year starts. Things get back to moving fast. At my house, we are packing boxes and painting walls and getting ready to move. So this week, I wanted to share an episode from our archive with a guest that I love. I've had the privilege of watching Tasha Leighton speak and lead worship

I was really searching. I went to mosque. I went to synagogue. I went to Buddhist meditation

to seek out what was true. Because I still believed in God. I just wanted to know which path to him

From the time she was a little girl, Tasha Layton had a strong faith and even felt a clear call from God.

You know, I grew up in a Christian home. My parents loved Jesus. They took us to church every week. What I remembered about religion, though, was sort of frilly, itchy socks and a hard

pew and being told to be quiet. And I think it wasn't until we changed churches, maybe around eight or nine years

old, that I walked into the church and I felt alive for the first time. I love describing that
