You know, my first talk was on the sort of identity of the Holy Spirit as God, and the second talk is on the mission of the Holy Spirit sent into the world to sanctify us.

And then the third and fourth talk will be on the Holy Spirit in the life of Christ, the mission of the Holy Spirit as manifest in Christ baptism, transfiguration, and crucifixion.

And the fourth talk will be on the presence of the Holy Spirit in the Eucharist.

So if you think about it, I'm going backwards as it were from our experience.

We experienced the Holy Spirit in the Eucharist.

We know that the Holy Spirit was present in life of Christ.

Then we think about the mission of the Holy Spirit sent into the world and we go to the kind of transcendent question of who the Holy Spirit was present in life of Christ. Then we think about the mission of the Holy Spirit, sent into the world,

and we go to the kind of transcendent question of who the Holy Trinity is in God.

I'm going the other direction.

And going from, you know, the Holy Spirit is God.

He's sent into the world.

He's present in the life of Christ, and he's present in the Eucharist.

So I want to talk to you first then about the missions of the Son and the Holy Spirit.

We're talking in the last lecture about the processions,

that there's the eternal procession of the Word and the eternal procession of the Spirit, eternal generation and eternal

spiration. And this is who God would be, even if God had never created the world. God

just is a procession of life, a spiritual procession of persons and a communion of persons.

But because God has created the world,

he has created the world to in a certain way and dwell in it by grace.

Now, the traditional Catholic theology

affirms that in a certain way,

God made the world for the missions
