Greetings, parish orphans and retrogrades.

Happy feast day of Thomas Aquinas, the angelic doctor, also known as the common doctor,

also known as the universal doctor.

I want to talk some about what his three titles actually mean and what the import is for Catholics today.

People are trying to supplant Thomas Aquinas in some Catholics of the, in some corners of

the Catholic landscape as the goat. And he is the head and shoulders greatest of all time.

Here with me today to talk about it is my friend A.J. Barker, who's recently written a

treatment of Aquinas, which is very, very helpful. AJ, how the heck of you, buddy?

I'm doing well, Tim. Great to see you today. Great to be on.

It's funny because when you have a friend on the show as opposed to just a

random guest, it's easy to slip into saying, how are you slugger? How are you, buddy? It sounds

it sounds funny. But of course, we're very fond of you here. The rules for retrogrades. And I

figured that being March 7th, this is a pre-recorded show,

but being at March 7th, this is the real feast day of Thomas Aquinas, the day on which he died.

And I've been irked over the last six months on Catholic social media, a lot, lots of stuff to be irked about there.

But particularly about the misapprehension of our common Dr. Aquinas, folks seem to want to

knock them off the pedestal, don't they? You have kind of two poles of this where you get normie Catholics that

have received the memo. Thomas is the goat, but they don't really know how to import him.

So they'll try to do a show on Aquinas. And it's like, I think you guys disagree with Aquinas

on a lot of his thornyer points that the true Tomas out there, we accept all of it.

And then there's that tends to cultivate the other poll, which is an overcompensating reaction, which is like, oh, you know who else is based?
