If you struggle with praying and I do, I always have. And that's why I'm not one to just go, well, pray for this, pray for that. Like, that can be an easy thing to say, but because I'm not one who's given to praying

very easily or often, I don't want to say it and then not do it myself. So I always struggle

with it. But here's what I just read. Eugene Peterson was writing about prayer, and he said,

don't wait until you're good at it. I just needed to read that. It's that simple. That's it.

It's not something. Do not wait until you're good at praying to do it. There's a lot of simplicity in the Bible and we tend to make it really complex. There's a lot of simplicity in God's relationship with us, but we tend to make it complex. And then we find there's so many things to remember just forget it yeah you start feeling burdened and

then you start feeling like i can't totally you'll hear a thousand and one lessons about how to x

i'm like well you know what i can't even remember what x was all about right i'm always looking for

the perfect time to pray like i always feel like i have to set up some kind of big devotional time that, and when I don't, then I feel guilty. And it's like, oh, well, maybe I should, instead of just talking to him like a father. Well, it's partially because there are people that are like, well, here's what I do. I wake up and I pray for three hours a day. And if you haven't heard these stories you well you will if you hang around

church culture very long you will hear that and you'll be like oh that person I got

to be like that and then I I fail my mind drifts after 12 seconds mm-hmm how am I

gonna do this for three hours 12 seconds in I'm out but the point is and what I

love what Sherry's saying here, too, God wants us to

communicate with them. It doesn't have to be a perfect situation. Why would it? That would be so strange. I mean, discipline's great. If you can do that. Some people have a gift with that. But your daughter doesn't have to do that to talk to you, right? I would hope that she would like, well, I'm going to wait until the perfect time to talk to dad.

Like, no, I just want to be with her.

I want her to wait until the perfect time to talk to

dad. Like, no, I just want to be with her. I want her to talk to me about little things, big things,

whatever is going on. And I delight in it. Delight it. Not, doesn't it be the perfect time. It's just

generally didn't happen. This is gonna be great.

We have something that you could win if you want.

If you don't want to, you don't have to.

That's the other thing. Free country.
