Hi friends, I'm Annie F. Downs. Let's read the Gospels. The Gospels are the first four books

0:06.0

of the New Testament in the Bible, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. These are the stories

0:10.6

of Jesus Christ's life on earth, the friendships, the parables, the sacrifices, the meals, the

miracles. Each month we read all four books, so go ahead, subscribe today, join us as we

0:19.8

read the Gospels together. Here's how this works. I'll read three chapters to you. You can

0:23.8

listen or read along in your own Bible, and then I'll pray, and that's it. Today is

0:27.6

good Friday, the day we remember the death of Jesus on the cross. It feels weird to say

0:32.9

the day we celebrate, but you know what I mean? Today is that day, the day that Jesus

0:36.4

was crucified, died and was buried. As we read today, we will walk with Jesus into Jerusalem,

0:42.0

and tomorrow, the Saturday between the death and resurrection, we will read Luke's retelling

0:47.0

of this part of the story, and then it's Easter Sunday, and we start with the book of John.

0:52.0

I encourage you to invite your friends to join us, starting on Easter, to hear the book

0:55.8

of John. It will take a week, just like Luke has, but what a beautiful book to begin on

1:00.5

Easter Sunday. And today we get to continue through the book of Luke, which I love. So today

1:05.8

is April 7th, day seven, good Friday, and I will be reading Luke chapters 19 through 21,

1:11.3

and this month I'm reading from the message. Luke 19, then Jesus entered and walked through

Jericho. There was a man there, his name Zacchaeus, the head tax man, and quite rich. He wanted

1:25.2

desperately to see Jesus, but the crowd was in his way. He was a short man and couldn't see

1:29.3

over the crowd. So he ran on ahead and climbed up in a sicklemore tree so he could see Jesus when

1:34.2

he came by. When Jesus got to the tree, he looked up and said, Zacchaeus, hurry down. Today is my

1:40.3

day to be a guest in your home. Zacchaeus scrambled out of the tree, hardly believing his good luck,

1:45.4

delighted to take Jesus home with him. Everyone who saw the incident was indignant and grumped,
