Summary

Gene and Randall present UFO researcher and religious scholar David Halperin , with a major focus on one of his books, “Intimate Alien: The Hidden Story of the UFO (Spiritual Phenomena).” According to David, UFOs are a myth, but myths are real. The power and fascination of the UFO has nothing to do with space travel or life on other planets. It’s about us, our longings and terrors, and especially the greatest terror of all: the end of our existence. This is a book about UFOs that goes beyond believing in them or debunking them and to a fresh understanding of what they tell us about ourselves as individuals, as a culture, and as a species. Oh and by the way, Gene makes a cameo appearance in David’s book.

1:12.4	And, you know, like you, I tend to think that maybe he's a bit weighed down on the believer
1:19.6	side when it comes to some stories like the Travis Walton case, the Sid Graves National Forest

1:26.5	He's very convinced that that seemed to be a real
1:29.4	case. Me, not so much, but when he mentioned that when Travis punched the alien in the head,

1:45.2	they were punching a beanbag.
1:47.0	I thought, well, those are really coincidental experiences.

1:57.5	Those are the things that make these all so weird.
2:01.5	And it leads me to believe that there's certainly a subjective element there and that it's not a real physical experience with something else.
