Today we're covering the execution of Clayton Lockett.

Let's go back to McAllister, Oklahoma on April 29, 2014.

On the morning of Clayton Lockett's scheduled execution, prison guards caught the convicted

murderer trying to harm himself. He jammed the door to stop them from getting in,

but they were able to force

their way inside and subdue him. Afterward, a medical examination determined Clayton's

wounds weren't serious enough to require stitches, so they shuffled him into a closely watched

holding cell and left him there. Eleven hours later, as planned, officials

strapped Clayton down on a table. In an adjoining room, three executioners prepared the

lethal chemicals for injection. A small group of witnesses sat in the viewing area. The problems

began immediately. The paramedic wasn't given the right kind of

equipment. The IV tubing was the wrong size, and the needles were too small. The biggest

complication was the mixture of drugs they were using. The cocktail had never even been tested.

Clayton was going to be a guinea pig. Then when the execution began,
