And Robert McNeil, who co-founded and was a longtime co-anchor of the news hour,

has died. Welcome to the news hour. We begin with some news of our own tonight. Robert McNeil,

co-founder and longtime co-anchor of this program, passed away earlier today at the age of 93.

McNeil, known by friends and colleagues as Robin,

co-founded the McNeil-Lera report,

the predecessor of the PBS News Hour,
