Good morning. Happy belated Easter to those who celebrate.

This morning, I'm taking my nine-month-old to the White House Easter egg roll,

though I'm pretty sure I'm more excited than she is.

I'm Rachel Bade. It's Monday, April 10th.

So the big things I'm watching today are, number one, the continued fallout

from this Trump judge who essentially outlawed the abortion pill last week, and specifically

the scrutiny on this turning in an unusual direction right now, toward Democrats, actually.

Over the weekend, progressives like Ron Wyden and AOC started calling for the

Biden administration to just ignore this judge's ruling instead of trying to appeal it. And that is

really threatening to sort of change the subject away from the merits of the judge's verdict,

where I think a lot of Democrats want to keep the focus to this sort of debate about democracy

and the role of the judiciary and the rule of law.

Number two, the GOP's reaction to Tennessee Republicans ousting two black lawmakers for protesting gun laws.

Last week we saw a bunch of Democrats accuse the Tennessee State House of being number one, tone deaf for

using such an extreme sanction on an issue that a lot of people frankly care about, and number two,

racist for not punishing a white lawmaker who did the exact same thing as these two black lawmakers.

But this week, we are going to hear from Republicans on this matter,

specifically wealthy Republicans are going to be flying in to Nashville for the RNC's donor

retreat. And we do expect officials like Donald Trump, Mike Pence, and some other

congressional Republicans who will be there for this donor retreat to have to weigh in on this matter.
