Leading off today, a new report from the information details OpenAI's hardware ambitions

0:17.6

and reveals that the first Johnny Ive designed hardware device from the

0:21.9

company will be a smart speaker. As we've discussed before, OpenAI is working with Johnny

0:28.0

Ive to produce its first line of hardware products with a launch expected next year. Johnny Ive,

0:34.3

of course, is the former design chief of Apple.

coming up with potential OpenAI device designs. Meanwhile, OpenAI's internal devices team is

1:24.5

in charge of making the hardware and software powering it, as well as

1:28.3

understanding how consumers will use that device. That division of responsibilities has reportedly

1:34.0

sparked tension. Some OpenAI staffers have complained that Lovefram is slow to revise its designs

1:40.5

and shares little about its process, even with others working on devices within

1:45.7

Open AI. We should see the first fruits of this Open AI and Johnny Knife collaboration sometime

1:52.0

next year. Next up today, Apple has announced that it plans to start manufacturing the Mac

1:57.5

Mini in the United States starting this year.

Sabi Khan, Apple's chief operating officer, shared the development in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, and Apple followed that up with a dedicated press release with more information.
