Apple may not make the largest number of smartphones,

That is the latest from Counterpoint Research.

In a post late last week, the market tracker had global smartphone revenues coming in over $100 billion in the second quarter.

That was the highest number for June quarter smartphone revenue so far.

While each of the top five smartphone makers grew revenue in the second quarter, Apple's growth was the fastest, up 13% year-on-year.

As mentioned before, it also took the lion's share of the revenue, capturing 43% of the global take.

A number of factors help push Apple higher.
