Apple's biggest event of the year set to kick off tomorrow when it reportedly is expected to launch major redesigns of the iPhone for the first time in years.

Steve Kovac has more in today's tech check. Steve, what are you expecting?

Hey there, sir. Yeah, we're going to get those new iPhones tomorrow. But the question is, what can bring that segment

of the business back to its previous strong growth?

It wasn't Apple Intelligence last year, and iPhone sales were actually down a bit the quarter

after the iPhone 16 launched.

But look back at what usually drives big upgrade cycles.

It's new hardware designs and features. You can see it here

on this chart I'm showing you when the iPhone 6 came out with bigger screens in 2014 or when

the iPhone 12 launched in 2020 with new design and 5G connections. Now Apple is expected to get back to

that tomorrow with the first major new iPhone design since 2020.

This is a super thin model that internet has started calling the iPhone Air.

We'll see what it's actually called at the event tomorrow.

Now, an executive at a major wireless carrier told me a couple days ago,

customers aren't even asking for AI when they upgrade to a new device.

Instead, they want hardware features

like the better camera or longer battery life, along with what they called eye-catching new designs,

something we have not seen for some time from Apple. Now, more new designs are coming even after

this year. We're expecting a foldable iPhone in 2026 and a radical new design in

27 for the iPhone's 20th anniversary. Believe it or not, we're already there.

Now, as for artificial intelligence, not really expecting much on that front tomorrow,

potentially an exclusive AI feature or two for this new phone lineup.
