The man accused of shooting five soldiers at Fort Stewart in Georgia on Wednesday morning has been

identified as U.S. Army Sergeant Cornelius Radford. The soldiers were shot in the second armored

brigade combat team area of the base. That's according to a social media post by the U.S.

Army. All the soldiers were treated on site and then transported to Win Army Community Hospital,

according to Fort Stewart's officials. Radford, who has been apprehended, is 28 years old and

assigned as an automated logistics sergeant. Here is John Lubis, General John Lewis, describing

just what unfolded at Fort Stewart on Wednesday morning.

I'd like to recognize and thank our Army law enforcement and medical personnel and our partners

from local, state, and federal law enforcement and emergency services for their quick response

and support. I would also like to thank the brave soldiers who immediately intervened and subdued the shooter.

These soldiers, without a doubt, prevented further casualties.

Sergeant Radford has not previously deployed to combat.

Sergeant Radford has been interviewed by the Army Criminal Investigation Division and is currently in pretrial confinement awaiting a charging decision

by the office of the special trial counsel.

Make no mistake, what unfolded at Fort Stewart yesterday morning is a tragedy, but it ended up

about as well as you could possibly imagine.
