As we continue to count down to Apple's big iPhone reveal in just over two hours,

there's another major smartphone event happening tonight in China that could steal some of the spotlight.

Hey, good morning, Mike.

So that would be Huawei.

That's the Chinese smartphone company whose

resurgence is really putting Apple in the backfoot,

on the backfoot in one of its most important markets.

Now Huawei is going to be holding its event tonight in China just hours after apples.

It is showing off this right here, not one, not two, but three screens, what is known as a trifold teased in that image that

you're looking at posted to its Weibo account over the weekend. It's also

currently running a live ticker on the Huawei website showing pre-orders for this phone at 3.2 million

and climbing. I looked just a few moments ago it was that 3.1 million.

Now there's all upstages Apple at a critical moment. Not only do we get the iPhone event today, but bigger picture. China represents

Apple's third largest market by total revenue. That revenue has been under pressure since

Huawei released its new line of mate series phones that has

driven a surge in brand loyalty among Chinese consumers.

You can see here Apple has fallen out nowhere to be found on this

list as a top five smartphone vendor in the country. Huawei, it's now fourth and

growing sales by far at the fastest more than 40% annually.
