Welcome to 9 to 5 Mac Daily for Monday, January 5th, 2026.

0:07.0

I'm your host, Chance Miller.

Leading off today, Apple launched a brand new M5 Vision Pro update last fall, but according to a new

0:15.0

new report, it had little impact on struggling Vision Pro sales.

0:20.0

While Apple itself hasn't released any sort of sales

0:22.8

numbers for Vision Pro, a new Financial Times report paints a bleak picture for the product's current

0:28.6

state as 2026 kicks off. The report outlines several negative trends for Vision Pro, low sales

0:36.1

estimates for Q4 2025, a significant reduction in digital

Finally, the report highlights a weakening VR headset market overall, citing data from

1:16.8

Counterpoint that says this year brought a 14% decline in the industry.

1:22.3

1:27.4

it's hard to know exactly how

1:29.3

these numbers compare to what the company expected. For example, I'm skeptical that Apple expected

1:34.8

the M5 update for Vision Pro to drive a huge wave in sales, especially when you consider that you

1:41.1

could buy the dual knit band separately and add it to your existing

1:45.2

M2 Vision Pro. But for now, this is all the data we have on the current performance of Vision

1:50.8

Pro, and again, it paints a pretty bleak picture. Next up today, Apple has more than 20 products
