And welcome back. We're back with Ryan Walters in his book Apollo 1, The Tragedy that put us on the moon just came out.

Ryan tell us why you believe the Apollo 1 mission helped to get us on the moon.

Well the Apollo spacecraft was built by North American aviation and those contracts were awarded for Apollo in the fall of 1961.

And they were building the spacecraft and just to put it bluntly by time we get to 1966, 1966, early 1967.

That spacecraft was a hunk of junk. It really bad.

There were a number of astronauts and people in NASA that referred to it as a bucket of bolts.

It just wasn't very good. A lot of, of course, the subsequent investigations after the fire revealed that there were a lot of sloppy work, shoddy workmanship.
