Summary

Have you ever felt like it was too late? Too late for your goals, traditions, or habits? Or, maybe you feel it’s too late to create better relationships? Feeling like it’s “too late” can bring up a lot of emotions: anger, guilt, or sadness. You feel like you should have known better! (“I should have started this last week or years ago!”) How can you recover from these feelings when you can’t change the past? Instead of being stuck in these feelings, I want to teach you how to start where you are, even when you think it’s too late! In this episode, I share my own experiences of feeling like it was “too late” for me to start certain things. (Don’t worry, I definitely understand this feeling!) I then outline three ways you may be disqualifying yourself from starting over and cover mindset shifts you can embrace to move from feeling “it’s too late” to starting what you want. (Hint: this means starting exactly where you are! You don’t have to go back to the beginning . . . ) So, whether it’s a new habit, a different career, or more education (or, in my case, this is starting now to work on family scrapbooks!), it’s time for you to qualify yourself and start where you are! If you’ve ever found yourself saying, “It’s too late,” then this episode is for you. Join me to let go of regrets to create more for your life! Start where you are.

This summer, I'm taking an eight week break from airing new episodes to restore my creative

1:04.1

burnout but each Monday I'm airing eight of some of the very best episodes we have

1:09.2

from our extensive archive. Today's episode originally aired in January of

1:14.4

2022. I was still getting the hang of our new show format and that meant having more

1:20.8

music breaks which I have long noticed for years certain radio shows do, like this American life and many others like fresh air.

1:28.0

They do that to give your air a little recharge and then gently nudge your attention back to the episode.

1:35.0

Now when I listen back to some of the episodes I don't love a lot of the songs I chose

1:39.2

or how I had them come in and out. Lessons were learned, but this lesson was not applied yet. So I don't

1:48.0

love the music in this episode, but I think the content transcended it. It surprised me because it was a top listen in 2022,

1:56.2

even though it was me mostly speaking

1:58.0

from a rough outline, like I didn't detail out every single word.

2:01.6

And when I was editing again, it did remind me that I have yet to

2:04.7

start on those scrapbooks that I talked about in the episode so just keep that in mind
