In this audio guide I walk through the specific scenario of feeling anxious right before you do something that scares you, be it public speaking, giving a speech or lots of other scenarios where this would apply. I stick with the example of public speaking but it will be relevant to anything where there is a performance involved. Move through that pre event anxiety with me and turn it into your motivation.

This is what works for me personally, and it's what I turn to whenever I find myself in

the same situation.

0:54.1

It's exactly what I would have

0:55.2

benefited from and I really hope it will do the same for you. The key focus here is working on

1:01.4

our perception of anxiety. To begin, take yourself somewhere where you can really focus your

1:07.4

attention on what I'm saying. You could take a short walk as you listen or get comfortable in a seated position.

Wherever you find yourself, bring your awareness to your body and then consciously lengthen

1:20.8

your spine.

1:22.5

Taking a posture that allows your breath to flow more freely and unrestricted through your body will really help

1:29.1

in our efforts to bring about feelings of calm. I want you to give yourself permission to feel how

1:36.6

you're feeling. You don't need to try not to feel anxious here. That's not the goal. You feel anxious

1:43.2

for a reason and a big part of that is because you care.

1:47.1

If anything, the goal is to acknowledge the anxiety, to recognize it and then use it as the fuel

1:52.8

to get you through what you're about to do. The thing is, you don't need to be anxiety-free in

1:58.6

order to do a good job. I have given countless presentations
