Summary

"God is still writing your story. Quit trying to steal the pen. Trust the author." This was a recent quote I read and shared, not realizing in the moment how clearly it describes what is really at the root of much of my anxiety in life. It is also directly related to my level of contentment. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one, although one of the greatest tactics of the enemy is to lead or drive us to a place where we feel completely alone.  I believe that for this very reason, God has laid it on my heart to share my struggles with anxiety and the truths that God is revealing as this (His) story unfolds. I don't think it's just about me. I truly believe it's a way for we as moms, to find community, not for the sake of commiserating, but to walk out what the Bible says: to spur one another on toward love and good works(Hebrews 10:24). To confess the unbelief (sin) that lurks in our hearts and pray for one another that we may be healed (James 5:16) and to speak out to others the ways that God has redeemed us from our enemies (Psalm 107:2)!  Please listen and be encouraged! Previous podcasts on anxiety: numbers 7,8,9,67, and 72 Psalm 23 (NLT) Matthew 11:28-30 (Message Bible) Philippians 4: 6-9 & 13 (NLT) Hebrews 12: 7,8 (NLT)

Hey, moms. Welcome to the Dorenda Wilson podcast. I'm Dorenda Wilson. If you don't know much about me,

I'm married to Daryl. We have been married for almost 30 years.

0:21.9

Our kids are ages 14 to 28. There are eight of them. Five are boys. Three are girls. And we also have

0:30.6

six grandkids. I am so thankful to be here today. But I also really want to thank you for being here and for listening.

0:40.6

I know that there are a million other voices that you could be listening to right now, but you've

0:46.3

chosen to be here. And I want you to know that I don't take this lightly. I count it a privilege

0:52.0

that you are allowing me to speak into your life. And I hope and

0:56.5

pray that I'm faithful to speak what God would want me to say, nothing more, nothing less. But most

1:03.6

of all, my prayer is that you will hear from God personally in a very real and personal and powerful way. I've asked moms what topics

1:16.0

that they would like me to cover. Anxiety has been one that I've gotten a lot of response on. So I have

1:22.5

done actually several on anxiety, not just because of the response, but because it's a personal struggle for me as

1:28.7

well. If you want to hear the other podcasts, they are podcast 7, 8, 9, 67, and 72. Today's

1:39.0

podcast on anxiety is focusing on a journey toward contentment. So like I said before, I ask moms what

1:49.8

topics they would like me to cover. And a while back, a couple of different moms asked me to talk

1:55.3

about contentment. My practice is to pray and to listen for what I feel like God is wanting me to talk about each week.

2:06.6

And until now, it really wasn't contentment. But I have found that this topic is being

2:13.9

weaved into my own personal life in a way that I really didn't expect.

2:20.5

Now, most of you know that I've talked about my own struggle with anxiety several times on this

2:27.3

podcast. I had mentioned that before. And I also mentioned that I have received more feedback from that topic than most others, which tells me two things.

2:38.4

One, that none of us are alone and our struggles with anxiety. And you know what? That's exactly what the enemy wants.

2:47.9

He wants for us to feel alone and to feel isolated. And this is why I think

2:52.3

it's so important for us to talk about it. But I think it's important for us to talk about it
