Summary

Former President Trump said he expects to be arrested this week and called on his supporters to “protest” and “take our nation back.” Trump has been one of the focuses of the investigation into the hush money payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels. CNN Senior Legal Affairs Correspondent Paula Reid gives AC360 an update on when a possible Trump indictment and arrest could happen.

Plus, the family of Stephen Smith will seek to have his body exhumed in South Carolina for a private autopsy. While investigating the 2021 murders of Paul and Maggie Murdaugh, SLED found new information which prompted them to reopen the investigation into the 19-year-old’s death six years earlier. CNN National Correspondent Randi Kaye tells AC360 why Buster Murdaugh put out a statement denying “any involvement” in Smith’s case.

0:21.5	The former president kicked off speculation that an indictment may be imminent with the
0:25.8	social media post over the weekend, stating that it may come tomorrow, but he offered
0:30.6	no proof of that.
0:32.1	And his own lawyer told CNN that they are merely repeating what they read in the media.
0:36.2	But they can't be because everyone is in the dark about what's going on behind the
0:40.2	closed doors of the grand jury room and about when they could reach a decision.
0:44.9	All we know is that if the former president is charged, it will be historic and not just
0:50.0	for the reasons we cite it, but also because of the nature of the crime being alleged, a
0:55.4	payoff and cover-up of an alleged relationship with an adult film actress, something Trump
1:00.8	has denied.
1:02.4	But more importantly, because any potential indictment could also be the first of more
1:06.9	charges to come for former president Trump.
1:10.0	Those would involve separate investigations out of the Justice Department and the state
1:14.2	of Georgia into his actions surrounding election interference, the insurrection, and
1:18.9	mishandling of classified documents that are potentially far graver to his status as
1:23.7	a 2024 Republican frontrunner.
