at the same time we're under attack from a lot of different directions and honestly I swear I don't think there's anybody who is in this anymore at the leadership position and frankly maybe one of the busiest people in the gun rights movement then our next guest Larry Keen from the National Shooting Sports Foundation Larry thank you for joining us my friend.

I was pleasure to spend time with you Tom hope you well I am well and I swear I do not know how you do everything you do because I know I'm now on the inside board of governors and I get a real good look at all the things you and your team do and you're in the middle of everything that's going on and gun rights now.

Well it feels that way someday it does it really does and we probably should explain sort of the National Shooting Sports Foundation is the trade association it represents.

The firems industry which is not exactly the same as gun owners although the overlap is significant fair enough.

Absolutely we get asked you know what's the difference between us and second amendment organizations like you know second amendment foundation or NRA and other groups and the elevator speeches the dividing line is the checkout counter we are focused.

Okay and of course a lot of that ends up affecting the end user I mean if for instance if gun stores are in jeopardy in any form of fashion.

Then that affects the end user the the gun owner of the gun buyer was if you can't buy guns you can't own guns and that's one of the things that you guys work on we work on all the time.

Absolutely I mean we and the staff was critical in making sure that our industry was declared essential during the pandemic by the federal government and by many many almost every state.

With a few exceptions and we have been working to get legislation passed to make sure that if we ever have that sort of emergency again governors cannot shut down the firearms industry making it impossible.

For people to exercise their second amendment rights in the middle of a crisis right me need those rights more than ever.

You know there's another attack out there that people may not be as aware of but it's no less significant and I'm thinking in terms of the and NSSF is in the lead on this one the attack and I call it is exactly that from the financial industry on firearms of makers sellers distributors you might talk about kind of what they have been doing and it's so let's almost under the radar for a lot of people.

Yeah it's not it you know it's not a direct attack against gun owners it's indirect as you were mentioning but all of the very large multinational you know Wall Street banks Bank of America JP Morgan Chase city bank wealth bargo and others have these discriminatory policies where they will

not provide financial services or you know bank businesses that are in the firearms industry and it's very challenging for a major manufacturer who to have their bank fire them and this has happened to companies like Luger was fired by Bank of America after decades of banking relationship simply because they made modern sporting wife of the same way.

It happened to six hour and others and in fact Morgan JP Morgan Chase the CEO testified in front of Congress that they will not lend to people in the industry and so we've been trying to address this issue both at the federal level and the state level and we're starting to have a little bit of success is a lot more work to do to raise awareness you know you mentioned

and I'm coming into the segment that you're in Arizona while we're working a bill in Arizona to put a stop to this discriminatory content.

Yeah and I want to put a fine point on it so people understand it's like it happened to even big millen stocks their banks that we're not going to do business with you you're going to cancel your bank accounts you're going to have to find another bank gun stores have been told we're not going to process your credit card payments

your charges that way so when it gets down to people say well yeah okay that's fine but what does it mean to me what it means is that your gun store if they can't process credit card payments they go out of business.
