Anthropic, just announcing a major new international expansion as the AI startup says enterprise

demand surges overseas. Our McKenzie Segalos has details in today's tech check. Hey, Mac.

Hey, Carl. So Anthropic tells me this global hiring blitz shows just how fast its enterprise

business is scaling. They're opening new offices in Tokyo, that's its first in Asia Pact, and across

Europe while also hiring country leads in India, Korea, and Singapore. Now, the company says

it's going where demand already exists. It's applied AI team focused on tailored deployments

for clients in finance, healthcare and telecom will grow fivefold this year. And then it's international,

go-to-market workforce. Those are the folks responsible for selling that enterprise tech will

triple in 2025. It comes as nearly 80% of usage is now happening outside the U.S., where per-user

adoption is already surpassing the United States in places like Singapore, Korea, and Australia.

Now Anthropic has built its entire business around large enterprise customers. But this global

buildout comes as it's increasingly chasing a page out of OpenAI's playbook. Expanding overseas,

just as Sam Altman pushes deeper into the same markets. OpenAI launched a Tokyo office in April,

then expanded into Latin America and India just last month.

But both companies say there is more than enough demand to go around.

I spoke exclusively to Anthropics chief commercial officer

who called this kind of customer appetite unprecedented

and said that their international strategy now mirrors rivals like

OpenEye, OpenAI, where you meet enterprise clients wherever they are through both direct

relationships and integrations with partners like AWS and Google.

And it appears to be working.

Anthropic is scaled from fewer than 1,000 business clients to more than 300,000 in just two years.
