And that is the Anthony Volpe decision.

Because they have not yet officially announced that he would be activated today.

Anthony Volpe is in the midst of a rehab assignment whose clock is about to expire.

It's just about to be done.

Now, because Anthony Volpe has options left, and this is what I surmised during the winter, but I certainly wasn't surmising it recently, they had the ability to just send Anthony Volpe to the minor leagues and have it be less controversial than sending him down in the middle of a season where he's in the major leagues. It just looks different to say, hey, we're transferring Volpe from rehab assignment to the minor leagues, right. It's an easy thing to do. And I thought it was an option when we talked about Bulpi's entry back in January and February and even March. But I guess the way McMahon has played, Kabayr has played well, but he probably fits better as that super utility role. And the fact that Volpe has hit to a degree in the minor leagues, I've been under

the assumption that he'll be activated today. And there's still a chance he is activated today.

But the fact that Aaron Boone has danced around the question leads to the possibility that

later today, they don't activate Anthony Volpe and he ends up remaining in AAA for the foreseeable future. Yeah, this is puzzling to me because it's ironic right now. You also don't want to take Caballero out of the lineup. It feels like the last two weeks, he's really clicked. But like you mentioned, Caboero could also play some third base. Like, there is that bats to be had. I just wonder, because we're inevitably, let's all be honest here, Evan,

by 4 o'clock going to get that Yankee tweet that Jason Dominguez has been placed on the

entry list, right? We'll say, we'll get an update today. I don't know if it's going to be a bad update. Hopefully it's a good update. I hope it's a good update, but it felt, at least it felt that way. And if that is the case, I think that's what makes me feel like Volpe will be

activated and brought up here because they showed they put Schumann in the outfield the other night

too, so they have that outfield depth that they needed. Rosario could play the corners. Like, if they put Dominguez on the aisle, who's taking his place here? And I think it would be Anthony Volpe on the roster. Yeah, but playing time isn't going to be decided by Jason Dominguez.

And that was my point to a few days ago. No, no, no, no, no. So it doesn't really matter. I think you're overthinking the roster aspect of it. To me, it's more about, it's more about, are you ready to let him be the most of the time shortstop? Yeah, but I think if you're willing to let Caboero play third more, more. Yeah.

I'm more open to it than I ever thought I would be because I, if we're being real, I just don't know what else Anthony Volpe is supposed to show down in the minor leagues on his rehab. I think I honestly, I'll give you an answer to that because I went back and forth about this last night and ultimately I'm good with either decision. I don't think like there's a bad one. I think sending him down actually sends a bigger message, which is, hey, the Yankees are operating a little bit differently this year. So I think from that perspective, it's probably a good thing. As far as the roster's concerned, I think it does add to the possibilities of less Ryan McMahon. And I think Anthony Volpe has performed decently well on rehab.

He's hitting about 308, not that you want to go nuts about the numbers. But it's not like he's hitting 190. He's hitting 190. He's hitting 190. We'd be having different discussion. And that's my point. I don't think the offense for Anthony Volpe is going to improve by sending him back for another two weeks to AAA here. I just, the Yankees got to be more open-minded about and not stubborn in their ways.

Caboero's playing well.

He has flexibility all over the infield. I'm not saying he has to be the everyday third baseman. But you can't suddenly take a hot caballero and cool him down for Volpe while just sticking Ryan McMahon out there all the time. No, I got you. I think there are two different levels to the Volpe conversation. Number one, do you add him to the roster?
