Hey, good morning. It is Saturday, August the 23rd. I'm Ali Velshi. We are waiting and watching this morning for Texas Governor Greg Abbott to do Donald Trump's bidding and finally sign into law a new congressional map that's designed to give Republicans five more seats in Congress in the midterms.

This, after a dramatic scene overnight, one last Hail Mary filibuster by a Senate Democrat and a post-midnight party line vote in Texas.

But we also have eyes on California where Democrats are fighting fire with fire, moving ahead with a plan to change their own maps.

I will be joined this morning by two members of Congress in California who are taking up this fight,

Congressman Pete Aguilar and Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren.

Plus, we're watching movement in the Epstein vials saga.

The Justice Department has just handed over a batch of evidence to the House Oversight Committee

under order of subpoena in just the last few minutes. I'm going to be joined by Congresswoman

Summer Lee, a member of that committee who was instrumental in getting that subpoena issued in the first

place. But we begin this morning with a promise. In 2016, I declared, I am your voice.

Today, I add, I am your warrior.

I am your justice.

And for those who have been wronged and betrayed, I am your retribution.

I am your retribution. It was Donald Trump's campaign promise in

2023. He said it a few times. At the time, people dismissed it as Donald Trump bluster. But today,

it's no longer rhetoric. It's governing strategy. His administration has targeted for investigation

dozens of perceived enemies and critics. The latest move came just

yesterday as the FBI searched the Maryland home and Washington office of John Bolton, Trump's former

national security advisor turned outspoken critic. Bolton now joins a growing list of high-profile

targets, a roster that reads like a scorecard of Donald Trump's enemies.
