Who is Scott Bessent, the nominee to be the next Treasury Secretary?

President-elect Donald Trump has announced his pick for Treasury Secretary.

Scott Bessent is founder of the hedge fund Key Square Capital.

Before that, he worked for billionaire George Soros, a high-profile donor to Democrats.

Nancy Marshall-Genzor has more. If confirmed by the Senate, Bessent would play a crucial role in

tax and trade policy. Trump wants Congress to renew parts of the 2017 tax cuts that expire next year.

The president-elect has also said he wants to impose 10 to 20 percent tariffs on imports,

with tariffs of 60 percent or more on products made in China.

In an interview with CNBC, Bessent said he would recommend that tariffs be layered in gradually.

He's described them as a negotiating tool.

Bessent will also help Trump decide who to nominate as chair of the Federal

Reserve after Jerome Powell's term is up in 2026. At one point, Bessent said Trump should nominate

Powell's successor early as a sort of shadow chair, but he's since appeared to back away from that

This past weekend marked 20 years since the popular online computer game World of Warcraft

hit the market. Wow, as it's sometimes called, is a role-playing adventure game where you

choose a character among orcs and elves and you set out on quests with your friends. It had at its peak

12 million subscribers back in 2010, and all those people were paying $15 a month to play the game.
