Hit hard right side. Diving. Stop Pientos. To his feet. Clips to Peterson. He dropped the ball. Chapman running from second. Scores standing up.

Three to one, San Francisco.

But I know Peterson probably should have caught it, but it was not agreed feed, especially for a lefty pitcher. You got to lead the pitcher, not throw up behind him. You made a nice stop, throw it to it. And plus, he's left-handed. He's right-handed. He's going to make the catch. Exactly right. Peterson tagged for six of those seven runs. Five earned... He had plenty of throwing troubles last year.

Nine hits. Peterson allowed over four and a third. He gave way to Sean Minaya, who cleaned up the final three and two-thirds. Four hits, a couple of walks.

He allowed an inherited runner to score and then charged with one of his own runs across 74 pitches.

It's about the only thing Carlos Mendoza could turn to following another loss.

I thought it's a positive step there.

You know, I thought he was aggressive.

Fastball had life, got some swinging misses.

And for him to finish that game and save the bullpen is huge. I suppose that's the silver lining for the rest of the series. Well, he was our best pitcher a couple years ago and was the go-to guy and now he's relegated to mop-up duty. You know what? He'll work his way back. Don't worry about it. He'll end up having to get, you know, probably, I bet you 10 stars this year.

They stretched them out last night, at least 10 stars. Pitches. You know, the other thing, I was thinking about that throw from Viantos to Peterson, you know, that's, like, when I play hockey with my guys, I never get the puck on the front of my stick. They always throw it to the back of my stick. They think I'm right-handed.

I'm left-handed.

I've been playing with these guys for 20 effing years, and they keep throwing it to the wrong side. Why is it so goddamn hard? Why can't you just lead the guy? I guess the intimidation factor. They get nervous when they're trying to set you up. Hey, listen, man, just throw the ball like you normally throw it, kid.

Yeah, didn't lead him enough.
