It was the horror that played out just before Christmas nearly 34 years ago.

The second deadliest terror attack on Americans ever. Pan Am Flight 103, the massive 747,

was in the air less than an hour before an explosion in the cargo hold,

sent the plane plunging from 31,000 feet into the Scottish countryside,

killing 270 people, 190 of them Americans, including 35 Syracuse University students

on their way home for the holidays after studying abroad.

Was so much debris from that falling plane, 11 people were killed on the ground.

I didn't know that. How about that, a little town in Scotland, giant chunks of the plane fall to the ground

and kill 11 people on the ground. If you're old enough, you definitely remember that one because it was huge.

I didn't realize it was the second biggest terrorist attack on Americans in US history.

We all know what the first one was. It's still to this day, the biggest terrorist attack in Great Britain's history.

The guy that built the bomb and got it on the plane finally arrested and is in court.

All those years later, because that was back in 1988.

He made the bomb look like a cassette recorder.

Which was pretty clever. Got it on the plane without him getting on the plane.

Somehow he got it into the bag without him getting on the plane. That's why to this day, you still here at the airport,

over and over again, do not take a package from someone you don't know, which always seems and is ridiculous,

because I don't think anybody at this point ever would.

Somebody was able to get something on a plane without getting on the plane themselves.
