A little bit of controversy in San Clemente of all places because the city is going to allow cameras on the beach to,

so U.S. Customs and Border Protection contract these panga boats that are bringing in illegal immigrants.

So let's get Alex on.

That's John. He, I can't stand it. Oh, sorry, sorry. But make sure to use that one. You're calling every week. That is me. That is me. Put me in a dumpster. I got you now. Yeah, so, you know, at a time when there's so much anti-ice and border patrol talk and communities trying to get ice out.

And today we heard from the DA in Albuquerque saying that they will prosecute any ICE or Border Patrol who illegally detain anybody without a warrant.

And all this rhetoric that there is another side to it. San Clemente is now they have approved these cameras, Border Patrol cameras, that are going to go up,

U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the actual full agency doing it, but these high-tech camera

systems that it's going to go up on a hill that can look over the beach and the city for

anybody trying to come in via boat. And the mayor is saying, hey, I know there's controversy, but he says it just makes sense. It's a serious public safety issue, not only for the community, but for the people that are that are being smuggled ashore. So the thing is San Clemente, and we've covered them over many, many years. It's where a lot of the panga boats come in. They have

the long, skinny fishing boats, wooden boats that are popular in Mexico with the outboard motor on the back. And they smuggle in mainly humans, but they smuggling in drugs as well. And they typically come into San Clemente and sometimes other areas, but go up on the beach if they don't overturn before they get there. And, you know, there have been a number of fatal cases. And they go up on the beach and then those on board scatter into the community and run up to the five and then vehicles are waiting for them there or they hide out in the community waiting for a ride. And it happens fairly frequently. And the mayor says they need these cameras.

We've got 18 panga landings on our beaches in the last year or so. Half over half of all the

Mexican panga landings in Los Angeles and Orange County have happened right here in San Clemente.
