I'm the father of Eliza, age seven, and Leo, who is 3.5.

I'm a journalist in podcaster.

I live in New Hampshire, and my kids are Henry who's 16,

Teddy who's 15, and my stepdaughter Lily, who is 17.

And I'm Carvel Wallace, a writer and podcaster based in Oakland, California,

and I am the father to Georgia, who is 12, and Ezra who is 15.

Today on our show, we've got a question from a mom whose daughter has a mysterious and

ambiguous genetic abnormality first up though let's do triumphs and fails I have

an ongoing fail that I'm elevating to the status of like mom and dad are fighting fail in part as an accountability measure because I got to get on this.

Eliza got a bike for her birthday.

She's had it now for almost five months.

I have not taught her to ride it.

In my defense, it's been winter, the weather has not always been great. If I take both of them out to the park

and they're wearing their big coats and I'm supposed to like teach her how to ride a bike and

he's standing there shivering and that's no good and but also I am nervous that I'm not going to really know how to

teach somebody how to ride a bike or that she's going to have a hard time

getting it because she is that kind of stuff doesn't always come easy to her.

And I think now that it's been several months
