I've been given some specific prayers for tonight.

I want to continue to pray for Beckett,

a little boy in North Carolina, a year and a half,

year and a half old youngster who has some serious issues with his

heart and his lungs. So we pray for Beckett and his family. We pray for a

couple who's contemplating aborting their child. We pray for them that the Lord through

our prayers touches their heart so that they won't do that and we continue our prayers for Olivia Canoele, Thomas Lauer, and Catherine up in Omaha, and all of your prayers and for our priests.

Tonight's theme is the sacrament of anointing.

Today we begin to meditate on the sacrament of anointing.

This holy sacrament was instituted by Jesus himself

when he gave a share of his own power to the leaders of his church to heal the sick, raise the dead, and cleanse the disease.

In his epistle, St James says, Are there any among you who are sick? Let him call on the elders, the bishops,

who will pray over him and anoint him with oil,

the oil of the Lord, and the prayer of faith

will save the sick man from James 514.

Thus the purpose and value of the sacrament is tied to sickness, pain, and suffering.
