and the company had selected

Avril's atonement to publish and in return they would reward Anne with

Diana thought Anne would be overjoyed.

However, she was mortified.

Everyone in Avondly congratulated Anne though, and Gilbert told her not to be embarrassed, that even at college people would respect Anne for earning some extra money for herself.

Returning to Redmond was exciting for Anne and all her friends, no less so because they could move into Patty's place.
