Knife Journal Club series today with Dr. Susan Pories who wrote the article titled Leadership in American Surgery.

Women are Rising to the Top. With co-authors Dr. Patricia Turner, Dr. Caprice Greenberg,

Dr. Myabu, and Dr. Saripurangi, all of whom are female academic

surgeons. Dr. Pories is the Associate Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School and the Medical

Director of the Hoffman Press Center at Mount Auburn Hospital.

She was president of the Association of Women Surgeons in 2012 and 2013.

An accomplished writer and editor she teaches the humanities at Harvard Medical School and is also

co-editor of the soul of a doctor and

co-author of cancer biography of a disease. She attended medical school and

residency at the University of Vermont and completed her surgical oncology

research fellowship at the New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston,

now Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital.

And their clinical specialty is in the management of complex breast cancers.
