Anne Lauderback, whose collection, if in time, which is a selected poems of her work from

1975 to 2000 to currently, has just come out

in paperback from Penguin. The collection contains poems from all of her earlier books,

beginning with many times but then, which was published in 1979,

before recollection from 1987,

and, for example, from 1994,

There's a selection of new poems called The Call that date from 1997 to 2000,

Well, it's a wonderful question.

It actually feels confusing and a little bit painful, partly because I put the collection together pretty much on my own.

And the process of deleting things, taking things away, was curiously difficult for me and has become a kind of haunting.
