Hello and welcome to the canon, the show where every single week we get together and discuss whether certain movies belong in the canon of great films to live on forever.

Sometimes we argue, sometimes we fight, sometimes we harmoniously agree.

My name is Devin Farachi of birthmoviesdeath.com, and I am joined, as

always, by my co-host. Amy Nicholson of the LA Weekly. This week, we have a head-to-head

versus episode. We are pitting college comedies against each other. But first, before we do that,

we have old business. What are our grades from last semester?

Last semester, All About Eve, got an A-plus.

It is so hardcore in Canon.

I think it's more hardcore than anything we've had except for...

Oh, and I just blanked the name of, like, an all-time favorite Christmas classic.

It's a wonderful life.

Yeah, I feel like all about Eve.

I haven't checked today, but it looked like it was at 100%. Yeah. So sometimes we record alts of this just to see which way the voting goes, but we're not even going to record an alt. This is going to be just straight ahead. There's a chance that the episode could somehow find its way to like a nest of theater critics who hate this movie for personal reasons.

But I don't, having been a theater critic, I can say that there's not that many left in America to, I think, even adjust the vote that much. Yeah, so I think we feel pretty confident saying this is a yes and this is probably one of our most rapturous yeses. And we got a lot of great comments. I lot of people weighed in. I was really excited. Sometimes we do a movie that's a little bit older. I get worried that we're limiting the discussion and the audience. But that was not the case with Al-Bad-Eve. Yeah, and I get worried about it too because one of the tough things about picking out films for this podcast is we want to pick out stuff that's worthy of the canon.

And then you'd pick out things like Al-Avidev, which are a slam dunk.

And it's good to see thatv, which are a slam dunk.

And it's good to see that even when it is a slam dunk, people can still jump in, chime in with really great comments about why that film definitely makes it in, and that the conversation doesn't totally die just because it isn't controversial. We have pretty cool listeners, as it turns out. Thank you guys for being so excellent. And I'm just saying that right on to butter you up because this is a versus episode. So I need you to vote my way. We are going to be pitting two comedy college classics head to head, Animal House and Revenge of the Nerds. I'm going to start with Animal House.

Animal House is the full name, National Lampoon's Animal House, and it is the classic

comedy that I think in a lot of ways to find the college comedy period, sort of the frat

comedy.
