My first proof survived on Thursday. It's always a strange feeling to hold the first copy of a book. I've seen it in print,

of course, every time I've printed off a new draft. But seeing it typeset, accompanied by a glossy cover, is a new experience.

Familiar and yet unfamiliar at the same time, but wholly wonderful.
