For the last three years, I've been traveling to the southeast corner of Oklahoma to Bear Hunt,

in the Wachita National Forest with a few friends.

I grew up taking camping trips to that area where we would go for-winning through the vast

expanse of pine-forceded mountains.

Never having seen or heard anything to convince me otherwise, I always thought that cryptids

were a case of misidentification of natural wildlife.

Well, that would all change in the fall of 2020.

I once asked a close family friend if he thought Bigfoot was real.

He was a true woodsman or what I would call a legitimate mountain man.

He lived in a small cabin miles from any paved road.

I guess you could say he lived up to the phrase, a country boy can survive.

His cabin was situated on the south side of Highway 1 somewhere in between the highway

of Tallahena, a few miles from where my mind would be changed.

He told me that he never personally had an experience with Bigfoot, but that he had

some cousins who lived even deeper in the woods and he did.

One dark night they arrived at his doorstep frantic and rambling on about some sort of

wild man that had been beating on the side of their cabin and trying to get in.

He said their experience shook them up so much that they never went back to the cabin

to get their belongings.

If you don't believe me, my friend said, I can take you up where their cabin is and

you can see all the things they left behind.
