Humans aren't nearly as imaginative as we would like to think, at least not when it comes to monsters.

All our monsters are just plagiarizing evolution.

For the most part, we don't have new ideas, we just copy and paste paragraphs from Mother Nature's book,

and then rearrange them and hope nobody will notice.

A werewolf is just

mashing together a human and a wolf. A vampire is basically just giving a person fangs. A minotaur,

that's obvious. Cerberus, multi-headed dog. Dragon, just a massive lizard with batwings. Bigfoot is

a gorilla. The Cracken is just a big old octopus. Bigfoot is a gorilla.

I mean, come on.

None of these are particularly inventive.

There are no genuinely new concepts here.

Nobody came up with any new ideas.

They just mashed up some old ones.

And someone's going to tweet me and say, well, Macon, those monsters were invented at a time when animals were nature's monsters that just reflects the time

period, not the human mind. And okay, here's my counterpoint. Why isn't Hollywood doing any better?

Why is every movie monster totally derivative and plagiarized from Mother Nature to some degree or another?

Nobody in Hollywood is thinking half as much as they like to think they are.

They're basically just ripping off Mother Nature at every turn.

Half the time, they just take a tire pump to the back of an existing animal.

Godzilla is just a big lizard. King Kong is just a big gorilla. Jaws is literally a big shark.
