Summary

THE WORD THIS WEEK IS: anger.

"Don’t raise your voice, improve your argument," they say.

The tension in this country right now is insane. Palpable. People are angry and a simple place like a grocery store has turn into a boxing ring over mask wearing and proper COVID etiquette. But don’t we have every right to be angry? Aren’t we allowed to be angry? In this episode we break down the difference between RIGHTEOUS anger and UNRIGHTEOUS anger.

If you’re realizing your fight-or-flight mode is kicking into high gear lately, well this episode is for you.

Go rise up. || xxE

0:21.7

aside, take a break from those crazy emails, and let's unpack the word for this week together

0:26.5

as we jump into the good news. The word for this week is anger. I tell you what, this emotion is more

prevalent now than I feel like ever before. Anger, rage, quick tempers, no matter what

0:42.7

store you walk into, if you're wearing a mask, not wearing a mask, walking the wrong direction down

0:48.5

the grocery aisle, the tension is absolutely palpable. Even though you can't see their whole face, you can just see their eyes and you can see

0:56.6

their body language.

0:58.0

And what you believe is right, someone else might believe is wrong.

1:02.1

And it's just this major tug of war with reality.

1:06.0

And since March, I've got to tell you, I've been able to maintain a pristine record of not getting into an argument with someone over masks or keeping the six feet of distance until today at Safeway. So I'm just going to explain what happened and we'll go from there. So I was walking up to checkout at the grocery store, put my groceries on the belt and the lady in front of me with her mask and her gloves, she's about to pay.

1:32.2

She stops and she stares at me.

1:34.4

And then I'm staring at her.

1:35.8

And then she awkwardly yells, get back.

1:39.0

You're not six feet back.

1:40.3

And I look down and you know how you have that little circle or square that you're supposed to stand in?

1:45.1

I look down and my toe is literally on the circumference of the circle.

1:50.3

It's not like I'm in between the two circles and I'm two feet away from her,

1:55.8

mouth breathing on her through my mask.

1:57.6

I'm literally on my circle with my toe on my shoe right on the edge. So I pulled
